Okanagan Crush Pad, is located on a beautiful organic vineyard overlooking Lake Okanagan in Summerland, BC. This is where Haywire and Narrative wines and spirits are made. The team is dedicated to organic farming and to creating wines that are hallmark examples of the Okanagan.
Position Overview:
Okanagan Crush Pad is currently seeking a self-motivated fulltime Vineyard Machinery Operator to work closely with the Okanagan Crush Pad viticulturist and vineyard manager on our 25 acres of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Riesling vineyards in Summerland.
The successful applicant will be directly responsible for the tractor / machinery operation and maintenance of a broad range of vineyard implements.
Requirements for position:
· Proven experience with machinery operation in an agricultural / vineyard setting.
· Great communication, time management, record keeping and organizational skills;
· Ability to co-ordinate and work closely with the Okanagan Crush Pad Vineyard Manager to achieve effective and timely operations through the growing season.
· Excellent aptitude and understanding of machinery maintenance.
· Valid Canadian driver’s license.
· Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Good physical fitness.
Duties will include:
· Day to day tractor operations in co-ordination with the Okanagan Crush Pad Vineyard Manager. (This will include: spraying, mowing, cultivating, trimming and other operations as needed)
· Timely and effective maintenance of all equipment used in our vineyards.
· Understanding and operation of irrigation systems (including pumps, controllers and all vine watering systems as needed.
· Some winery and vintage work.
· Property maintenance as required.
· Opportunity to learn the operation maintenance of winery equipment
This role provides an excellent position for the successful applicant to be an integral part of a small but motivated team. While vineyard experience is not necessary it will be considered beneficial.
