Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual to join our team to present our portfolio of international wineries to the LCBO’s purchasing team.  The job will involve responding to LCBO tenders, negotiating allocations and prices with our wineries, inventory/sales tracking, and sales calls to LCBO retail stores. 

Tasks

  • Responding to LCBO product calls
  • Working as part of our team to identify the best wines to offer.
  • Negotiating the right price with suppliers to ensure sell-through conforms to LCBO metrics.
  • Entering offers in NISS and our company database.
  • Following up on accepted orders in NISS as per protocol.
  • Ensuring that samples reach the LCBO buyers by tender deadline.

 Winery communication

  • Confirming orders with winery, ensuring packaging and labeling meets Ontario standards, etc.
  • Tracking winery payments from the LCBO.
  • Submitting commission statements to wineries on a monthly basis.

 LCBO Sales and Marketing

  • Tracking and facilitating sell through at store level.
  • Implementing marketing initiatives to promote retail sell through.
  • Visiting/contacting LCBO retail stores to promote retail releases (approx. 1 week/month).
  • Use of LCBO portals and reports.

 Other Tasks

  • Day-to-day communication with our wineries and engendering goodwill with them.
  • Producing annual sales reports and reviews.
  • Presenting wines at trade shows.
  • Winery visit coordination.
  • Accurate record keeping in our internal database.

 Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role at a wine agency would be a significant advantage.
  • University or College graduate.
  • WSET (Level 2 minimum), ISG or an equivalent level of formal wine education.
  • Must be a team player who is willing to take on ad hoc responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong computer skills – good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be organized and have excellent time management skills and be able to focus on the details.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think on your feet a must.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and function well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Fluency in French or Italian is not required, but would be an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds (the weight of a case of wine).
