POSITION TITLE: Wine Department Supervisor, Legacy Liquor Store

POSITION SUMMARY:
Legacy Liquor Store’s Wine department is a fast growing, dynamic department, with a big focus on BC Wine and non-listed international wine.
Legacy Liquor Store supervisor areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to: product selection, wine department staff supervision, merchandising, inventory control, maintaining full shelves, sales and customer service, product training, BC ordering, product receiving, maintain Legacy’s’ high standards of service and professionalism, implement strategies to increase sales and customer satisfaction, store opening and closing.

WORK PERFORMED:
● Staff supervision (create and implement daily schedule, assign tasks to team member, train new members of the department on systems, maintain a harmonious work environment).
● Wine Buying: Select new product according to search list and space available, go to trade event to look for new product, meet agent and taste potential addition to portfolio,…
● Merchandising (apply planogram, maintain display, shelf stocking, print and check price tags accuracy)
● Sales and customer service (recommend adequate product, up sale, direct to the proper department if needed, answer phone queries)
● General supervisor role (inventory control, opening and closing procedure, help on cash when needed, maintain and implement policies and procedures, maintain a strong floor presence)
● Product training (train staff from all departments on new and existing products as part of weekly training, train new staff on products and brands styles, plan staff training with agents whenever possible)
● Administrative (Ordering directly from BC wineries, receiving deliveries).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
● At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role in a Hospitality/Liquor retail environment
● Familiarity with BC liquor laws
● Computer/POS proficiency
● Excellent professional presentation and communication skills—additional language(s) an asset
● A passion and formal training in wine is required (Minimum WSET Level 3 or equivalent)
● SIR Certification
● Cash / credit card handling experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires a strong presence on the sales floor. Candidate must be comfortable standing for long periods of time, be comfortable repeatedly lifting cases of wine, beer, and spirits (up to 20 kg), be comfortable kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders, and have experience with various POS systems. Shifts required include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
