BC SALES MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
To assist in oversee the sales planning and the sales team execution of the sales program within the Charton Hobbs (CH) portfolio of wines and spirits in the British Columbia, observing best industry practices and ethical business methods at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist Vice President of Operations British Columbia
Work with regional Vice President and Provincial Marketing team to create annual targets for case volume and financial objectives for Charton Hobbs Western Canada.

With Marketing Team, create sales analyses and brand presentations for BCLDB portfolio managers and CH suppliers, including price actions, distribution objectives, display programs, marketing/merchandising programs

Work with Charton Hobbs suppliers in annual volume and budget forecasts, as well as expansion and selection of CH BC Listed and SPEC product list

Assist in reviewing order forecasts based on programming, category and brand trends, planned price actions, etc. and sign off on all BCLDB inventory orders.

Assist in directly managing select regional and national chain retail and on premise accounts

Be prepared to guide representatives from our international wine, champagne, and spirit brands through presentations on the British Columbia liquor market, including category trends, competitive action, and opportunities.
2. Sales planning:
- Manage territory changes;

Set individual sales representative targets by brand, period, annually and by program;

Measure and ensure accountability of sales team;

Track and report sales wins, losses, competitive activity and results;

Conduct account audits of CH and competitor brands in the field;

Assess Chablis and competitive data for opportunities and threats to territories and brands and work with the team to positively resolve;

Ability to filter sales data and interpret in a meaningful fashion;

Product allocations – help team manage allocations to ensure accounts pull their allocation in a timely manner;

Work with the marketing team to execute brand plans.
3. Sales team activities:
- Provide leadership to the entire sales team and lead by example;

Motivate, manage, mentor, and train sales and merchandizing team to attain sales targets;

Host sales meetings;

Work in the trade with every team member – once every 6 weeks;

Follow-up on sales executions to measure individual results and performance;

Coordinate all POS, sell sheets, tools for team;

Coordinate trade shows and events, assigning staff and tools appropriately;

Strong on-premises relationships;

Liaise with suppliers on trade specific execution;
4. Management/Administrative Responsibilities:
Job Requirements:
- Experience: University degree and/or minimum of 4 years sales experience as a key account manager or sales manager of a large wine and/or spirits portfolio. You will have a portfolio of examples of your sales work to date.

Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be highly organized, and display excellent motivation and leadership abilities. You should be prepared to provide examples of your written work. You must have great PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and be able to extensively use the CH web based applications for sales and planning activities. Must be able to juggle multiple situations, and be self motivated and able to work independently.

Knowledge: Thorough working knowledge of the sales of wine and spirits or of an important consumer brand. Successful completion of several wine and spirit courses is desirable (such as WSET) and will be required if hired.

Physical: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and travel (includes overnight stays). Must be physically fit and be able to lift and carry 41+ pounds and able to build displays or handle heavy POS material.

Other: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s license in British Columbia, must be able to travel occasionally. Must have and maintain a valid Canadian Passport.
