Sales Representative (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

We are the top independent agency representing several value-priced brands from Australia, and currently have an immediate opening for a full-time sales representative based in Vancouver.

 

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive and has a strong desire to be successful in all sales channels.  A passion for wine and previous alcohol beverage sales experience in the BC market are definite pre-requisites. Significant experience calling on BCLDB stores is required; some experience selling to restaurants and private retail accounts is preferred. You should be comfortable working independently and managing your accounts using reports and technology to keep you organized, with assistance from marketing, operations and accounting to support your success.  We offer a competitive remuneration package and benefits, including company-issued cell phone and laptop.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Work independently in your territory, with support from head office as needed and required  

- Represent the company in a mature, professional manner at all times

- Generate sales and revenue while minimizing costs, to ensure profitability

- Manage distribution, shelf talkers and display activity in BCLDB stores while building relationships with store managers and product consultants

- Grow and further develop an on-premise and private retail presence including features, ad-hoc displays, listings and BTG/BTB activity

- Generate a self-determined weekly route plan to cover your territory in an efficient manner, and manage your schedule to be as productive as possible

- Expand the territory by adding new accounts in all channels; take advantage of new opportunities as they arise

- Educate customers and their staff with product training and tastings as needed and appropriate

- Execute flawlessly on company-directed programming, e.g. distribution drives and pre-sales, display activity, sales targets, in-store tastings

- Keep management informed of market changes, and offer constructive suggestions and solutions

- Work with supplier representatives and/or management in the territory as necessary to promote sales and support brands

- Pour at trade and public tastings and events, including some evening work; very limited overnight travel within the region may occasionally be required

Attributes of Successful Candidates:

- Maintain a good understanding of the wine industry and the beverage alcohol industry in general including customer and channel regulations, market trends and competition

- Degree from a recognized college or university

- Minimum 2 years of sales experience in the BC wine and/or alcohol beverage industry

- Serving It Right certification required, WSET Level 1 or 2 completion preferred

- Self-starter, great negotiator, positive and outgoing personality, excellent communication skills

- Excellent computer skills, particularly in Excel, Outlook and Power Point; be comfortable creating and using PDF’s, conference and video calling, digital and social media

- Have a fully insured and appropriate vehicle available for company business at all times

- Must be eligible to work in Canada, and located in the Vancouver area currently; no relocation or visa assistance available for this position
