Retail & Special Events Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Keint-he Winery & Vineyards is seeking a Retail & Special Events Manager to join our team. 

Responsibilities include:
Retail & Tasting Bar

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the winery retail space and tasting bar
  • Managing the tasting bar by providing an educational experience for clients
  • Coordinating, preparing and executing private group tours and tastings
  • Creating and updating materials such as price lists, tasting menus and tasting note displays
  • Maintaining a tidy and clean environment
  • Creating wine displays and replenishing supplies / stock as needed

Marketing

  • Maintaining the winery’s social media presence through platforms such as Facebook, twitter and Google+
  • Implementing strategies to attract new business to the winery
  • Updating the winery website - event calendar and online store
  • Producing winery e-newsletters and updating the list of subscribers
  • Representing Keint-he at off-site events 

Administration

  • Responding to inquiries regarding events, tastings, wine orders via phone or email
  • Processing licensee and private orders
  • Following up on Accounts Receivables
  • Bookkeeping tasks such as posting invoices, bills, payments and promotional wine
  • LCBO product call applications, understanding LCBO infrastructure such as NISS & Web PO
  • LCBO purchase order processing for Vintages and Direct Delivery
  • Paperwork associated with entering products into wine awards / competitions
  • Soliciting and booking licensee tasting appointments in Ontario
  • Booking and scheduling live music for patio entertainment during peak season
  • Reporting to General Manager and assisting with any additional requested tasks

Events

  • Developing an event portfolio to drive more visitors to winery
  • Preparation and execution of all events from set up to strike
  • Liaison between winery vendors such as catering, rentals and equipment suppliers – booking & payments
  • Marketing winery events and accepting reservations / payments
  • Following event preservation and follow up procedures 

Qualifications:

  • University Bachelor of Arts or College Diploma in hospitality & tourism; or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated selling skills; alcohol beverage and/or food & beverage management experience an asset
  • Exemplary customer service skills; including communication, problem solving, and attention to detail
  • Wine experience and knowledge essential; WSET, ISG or CAPS certification an asset
