Position: 1 year contract with potential full-time employment opportunities

Mission Hill Family Estate Winery has long been regarded a jewel of the British Columbia wine industry; producing world-class wines from its stunning location atop the sweeping hills of West Kelowna, British Columbia. Mission Hill’s elegant and internationally acclaimed wine portfolio celebrates the unique and diverse micro-climates of perhaps the world’s most exciting emerging wine region.

Role Overview:

The Privilege Membership Manager’s role is to strengthen and grow Privilege Membership, while increasing wine sales to existing members through developing outbound sales and marketing initiatives.  The Manager will drive this strategy through creating unique Privilege offerings, increasing on-site awareness and introducing new channels of revenue. This includes marketing, branding and adding new levels of Membership with curating offerings and consistently keeping up-to-date with markets and consumer trends to launch branches of Privilege eventually growing its reach nationwide and beyond.

Privilege Membership Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the member advocate within the organization. Build membership acquisition strategy and culture.  
  • Manage membership growth and sales budgets.  Assign goals, train and mentor staff to integrate Privilege into the winery experience.    
  • Gather and analyze key metrics that drive Membership (traffic, conversion, sales, product mix, offerings, events) to meet/exceed targets and ensure continuous improvement. 
  • Develop marketing strategies to increase public awareness of Privilege. Including but not limited to advertising, social media and online marketing.
  • Create Privilege revenue branches, new levels of memberships, business/corporate offerings.
  • Conceptualize new and ongoing ways of adding new sales channels to the Privilege offering.
  • Be actively involved in the creation of the new website. Conceptualize online Privilege offerings that can be valuable benefits for our non-BC members.
  • Work on creating partnerships to increase benefits for out of Province members, thereby growing the Privilege reach nationwide.
  • Facilitate 3 annual Privilege shipments. Managing inventory, communications, shipping and working closely with operations and packaging facilities.
  • Manage the administration of the club database – ‘Vin 65’. Manage all member online portals

Visitor Experience Responsibilities:

  • Recommend and facilitate special “curated” events, experiences and ongoing OTC purchase opportunities to significantly expand sales and contribution through this channel.  
  • Curate and co-host special Privileges events on-site and in all major Canadian cities.
  • Lead administrative effort with the support of 2 Privilege coordinators to respond promptly to all inquiries, customer service requests, shipment questions, deliverability issues and member communication. 

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Marketing and Design Assistant to create all marketing campaigns and collateral for Privilege Membership.
  • Along with the Assistant, manage the creation of all on-site POS materials. Creative writing and content creation for sales pieces, communication pieces and internal PR.
  • Manage and keep current the website. Write and schedule all public newsletters.
  • Create content and messaging for all social media channels. Consistently monitor these and manage advertising campaigns on line.

Core Requirements:

  • Completed post-secondary education in Hospitality/Hotel Management/other related field.  
  • Completion of WSET Level 3, or ISG Level 3, or equivalent, passionate about wine and in depth understanding of wine culture.  
  • Strong Business Acumen, experience managing a P&L and Budget.  
  •  Minimum of 2-3 years of running a Wine Club or other relevant fidelity programs.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive wine industry experience, including supervisory experience. Some Marketing experience is as asset.
  • Strong administrative skillset, including advanced computer skills in MS Office, CRM and POS Software.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, confident presenting to groups.
  • Strong focus on Visitor Experience; a proven track record of creating premium visitor experiences.  
  • Strong professional image and work ethic. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time.
