Situated in the heart of the Annapolis Valley, Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards is Nova Scotia’s newest winery, officially opening to the public in the summer of 2017. Owned and operated by the Lightfoot family who have been farming in the Annapolis Valley for eight generations, Lightfoot & Wolfville provides a truly unique farm winery experience. After planting vines in 2009, the first wines under this label were released in 2015. The focus is on elegant, balanced wines that speak of their origin including award-winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, aromatic whites such as Riesling and sparkling wines. Embracing organic and biodynamic agriculture, this estate nurtures not only 35 acres of vineyard but also raises heritage breed livestock and grows its own produce for the winery kitchen. The new and highly anticipated hospitality centre features a retail boutique, tasting room, wood-fired pizza oven and patio where guests can enjoy stunning views of Cape Blomidon and the Minas Basin. The opulent underground barrel cellar and marquee tent among the vines provide the perfect backdrop for weddings and special events.
Lightfoot & Wolfville is currently looking for a Retail & Hospitality manager to join their management team full-time. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a new winery in an emerging region.
Desired Attributes:
- Minimum 2 years retail or hospitality management experience, preferably within the wine industry
- University or college degree in tourism, hospitality, or business management is an asset
- Strength in the following skill areas: leadership, customer service, time management, planning, sales
- Wine education – sommelier/WSET training or equivalent
- Experience training and motivating a team
- Experience managing inventory and daily cash reconciliations.
- Solid understanding of point of sales and inventory control systems
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office programs – Excel, word, powerpoint
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall operation of the winery retail, wine experiences and event execution
- Manage team of seasonal tasting room staff including hiring, scheduling, training and supervision
- Drive revenue in the tasting room through intense hospitality and staff training
- Responsible for ensuring seamless execution of all signature wine experiences
- Creates schedule for all retail staff including tasting room associates, glass washers, cashiers and experience personnel
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and physical upkeep of facilities
- Responsible for executing the retail revenue budget
- Management of POS and inventory control
