We currently seek a highly motivated Full Time Sommelier to join our dynamic team.
Reporting Chain
Reports directly to the Head Sommelier and the Director of Wines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a consistently exceptional experience for all guests
- Assist guests in selecting appropriate wine pairing for their dining experience
- Offer guests knowledgeable, personalized service
- Receive, store, and inventory wine deliveries
- Occasionally provide support to the wait staff
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required:
- First level Sommelier accreditation from a recognized institution with advanced level or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years in a food and beverage role, with 2+ years in a similar role
- Thorough understanding of wine regions/styles of the world
- Thorough knowledge of fine dining service procedures and functions
- Excellent knowledge of food and wine pairing
- In depth food and preparation knowledge
- Able to interact professionally both with guests and co-workers
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive attitude
- Well groomed, polite
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to absorb and embody Relais & Chateaux's 5C philosophy
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 50+ lbs. as required.
- Stand for extended periods.
- Walk, bend, reach and push and pull frequently each shift.
- Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work safely under pressure with attention to detail.
Must have own transportation and be eligible to legally work in Canada.
