Spy Cider House and Distillery - Head of Production 

Job Summary 

The Head of Production will work alongside the Chief Product Officer throughout the production process as well as taking a key role in production management, record keeping and administration. 

Job Requirements 

10 years experience in wine or cider production

Experience in distillation beneficial

Relevant post secondary education 

Exceptional administrative and organizational skills 

Experience supervising and motivating a team, as well as working independently

Strong communication, analytical and time management skills

Proactive problem solver

Excellent attention to detail 

Flexibility with schedule and shift length

Ability to lift heavy objects (i.e. filled 50L kegs, spirit barrels) and operate machinery such as tractors and forklifts

Valid Driver’s License

Roles and Responsibilities

Perform and manage Caviste roles

Operation and maintenance of the press and assisting on canning line duties

Inoculation and monitoring of fermentations for both cider and spirit production. 

Filtration and stabilization of cider

Conduct laboratory testing internally and externally to ensure product consistency

Operation and maintenance of the still

Ensure general upkeep, preventative maintenance and cleanliness and sanitation of all production equipment and production floor

Assisting with upkeep of property and farmed orchard 

Maintaining and monitoring inventory of bulk and packaged goods

Keeping both physical and electronic records of production and movement of bulk goods

Maintain organization of storage spaces

Research and development of new products

May support Hospitality Tasting Room staff on occasion
