Territory Manager - Southern Alberta (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

The Company distributes and sells owned wine and spirit brands, Russian Standard Vodka, Zubrowka, and Gancia, while also operating as an agency for third-party brands.

Reporting to the Provincial Sales Manager, AB, the Territory Manager will be responsible for the selling, merchandising, and activating functions for the company portfolio in all assigned accounts within the defined geographical territory.


This is a one-year contract position.


As the customer-facing representative for the company and its portfolio you will be responsible for driving distribution, driving volume, negotiating in-store positioning where possible, and managing compliance to paid programming while educating staff on key brand attributes.


The focus of this position will be on flawless execution in retail channels, while driving availability, visibility and activation for the portfolio with assigned licensee accounts in the territory.


Specific responsibilities will include:


  • Implement territory sales plan and corresponding sales strategies effectively.

  • Build brand awareness and ensure strong sell-through/ depletions of provincial portfolio through both promotional programs and regular call cycle.

  • Maximize market share in geographical territory retail accounts to achieve provincial revenue, profit and growth targets.

  • Maximize availability, visibility and activation in assigned licensee accounts.

  • Ensure volume, distribution, promotional, merchandising, training and public relations activities are effectively implemented and executed.

  • Operate territory within approved expense budget.

  • Maintain and develop productive business relationships with all key customer decision-makers

  • Communicate all relevant business opportunities and competitive information on a regular and timely basis

  • Additional tasks may be assigned as warranted.


The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:


  • 3-5 years’ beverage alcohol, consumer packaged goods or food and beverage industry experience (required)

  • Excellent track record as a salesperson (required)

  • Experience calling on AB retail chain stores and independent restaurants would be an asset

  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated nature and an enthusiasm for retail account management and the beverage alcohol environment

  • Keen interest in and sound knowledge of spirits and wine

  • Succeeds in a fast paced environment and adapts well to change

  • Exceptional customer service skills; including communication, problem solving, listening and attention to detail

  • Interacts professionally with colleagues and clients

  • Able to persuade and influence others

  • Thrives in a team environment but is also able to work unsupervised

  • Demonstrated selling skills along with product/market knowledge (required)

  • Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint experience and competency

  • Event/activation experience is a definite asset

  • Residence within the territory is a definite asset

  • Valid driver’s license and automobile (required)
