Vin Room is hiring for a Wine Director! Vin Room is Canada’s largest wine bar with over 100 wines by the glass. We are proud to have 3 restaurant locations in Calgary including one in the Calgary International Airport and a boutique Wine Store, VR Wine.
The ideal candidate has their WSET or ISG diploma and have at least two years minimum of experience in a wine program management role. This person must be passionate about wine education and make it fun for our staff , as well as be able to work with our sommeliers at each vin room location.
The ideal candidate will also need the capability to mentor and train the sommeliers at each location and lead the programs with efficiency and clarity. To be highly organized is a must, and also be able to work at multiple locations.
This is a leadership role and as such requires a person that can not only mentor peers in the wine program but also be an effective floor manager, retail sales, and event planner and also have the capabilities to provide back of the house administration to the Proprietor and other managers.
The Wine Director reports directly to the proprietor and as such is expected to provide all the necessary details in the organization, deliverance and execution of the wine program, its features, events and written material for various marketing outlets as requested by the Proprietor. Must be able to work in a team environment and understand and appreciate the Vin Room concept. Basic computer skills are required and understanding of such programs such as excel and Microsoft word. Retail experience is an asset.
Must be legally able to work in Canada.
