VQA Winemaker - 14 Month Contract (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Andrew Peller Limited is seeking a VQA Winemaker at the Grimsby location. This role will be responsible for processing all assigned grapes into wine including receipt, fermentation, stabilizing and filtration to bottling. They will also be responsible for blend formulation and technical wine adjustments, wine sensory trials and pre-bottling analysis.

The successful candidate will be accountable for:

• Executing all winemaking activities in conjunction with Cellar Manager and Winemaker VQA and ICB when required as well actively pursues cost savings and efficiencies in VQA formulations, ingredients, and winemaking processes and directly drives  all VQA winemaking activities including but not limited to:

•  
  • SOP creation and management
  • Crush Process Stream planning and execution, harvest strategy and training.
  • Fermentation management
  • Equipment performance  and  new  technology
  • Laboratory analysis
  • Oak alternative/Barrel  management and trials
  • Micro-Oxygenation Program
  • Inventory management as per Good Manufacturing and Winemaking practices
  • Blending/Stabilization/Filtration in accordance with Bottling schedule
• In conjunction with the corporate Winemaking team
  • Manage the winemaking process for VQA brands regardless of the facility in which they are made
  • Actively participate in tastings and sensory panels
  • Determine and conduct experiments and projects and report back to the Winemaking team
  • Actively works to expand on an award winning VQA program
  • Actively promotes technical improvements in winemaking

• In conjunction with the Planning Department ensure the delivery of wine to meet the agreed to VQA production schedule

• Ensuring all APL VQA wines are submitted to the VQA panel as per corporate guidelines.
• Ensuring the accurate reporting of winemaking movements in WIS / ASCP
• Ensuring all winemaking production reports and audits are performed and distributed on time as prescribed
• Maintaining Environmental Health and Safety program as per corporate guidelines.
• Maintaining environmental program as per corporate guidelines.
• Participating as a member of the National Oenology team .

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:

• Hons. B.Sc Oenology and Viticulture
• Three years experience in Winemaking and Cellar Operations
• Experience in Vineyard Operations
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
