The Grange of Prince Edward is an estate winery located in Prince Edward County, Ontario. We are one of the oldest wineries in this exciting, emerging wine region. Our focus is on small lot, terroir driven wines.
We are looking for someone to join our team for the 2022 harvest. The position will be directly assisting the winemaker in the cellar and lab, however there will be opportunities to see and talk vineyards as well.
Essential Functions:
• Fruit sorting, crushing and pressing
• Forklift operation (unloading trucks, loading the press)
• Pump-overs and punch-downs
• Fermentation monitoring
• General cellar duties (racking, filling, barrel work, sanitation, etc.)
• Laboratory analysis of grape samples, musts, and wines
• Setting up and participating in tastings and trials
We are seeking a candidate who is internally motivated, energetic, keen to learn, a team player, and who has the following qualifications:
• Completed degree or currently enrolled in an Undergraduate degree in Enology, or equivalent science training
• Be legally able to work in Canada
• Able to do physical work for long hours in varying conditions, lift 20kgs, and stand for long periods of time
• Excellent project and time management skills
• Proficient with Excel
• Excellent communicator
• Able to carry out direction both verbally and/or in written form
• Ability to work independently
• Holds a valid drivers license and a clean driving record
• Forklift experience a plus
• Ability to work overtime and a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends and holidays
