Monte Creek Ranch Winery is currently seeking an Assistant Winemaker to join our winemaking team. Monte Creek Ranch is located 30 minutes east of Kamloops, BC, in the South Thompson valley. We are a 300 ton facility with 80 planted acres, as well as ambitious growth plans.

 

 

 

Core Competencies

 

• Able to both perform and supervise production operations covering all stages of production from fruit to bottle.
• Ensure that the cellar is kept to the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
• Assist with the maintenance and repair of cellar equipment when required.
• Able to follow standard operating procedures and work orders with a high degree of attention to detail.
• Monitor water system and water quality. Maintain when necessary.
• Perform wet chemistry for basic lab analysis. Will become competent with laboratory bioanalyzer. Facilitate winemaking trials. Maintain records.
• Complete work in a manner consistent with the company health and safety mandate.
• Act as a company representative and engage with trade or the public at events.
• Train and supervise temporary workers.
• Coordinate with the mobile bottler. Coordinate packaging supplies.

 

Requirements

 

• Degree in wine related field.
• Minimum 5 years winemaking experience, preference to those with a broad experience base covering multiple regions.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends, as required, but in particular during harvest.
• Previous management/leadership experience.
• High degree of forklift proficiency.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
• Able to lift 50 pounds. Able to work on their feet in physically demanding conditions.
• Preference given to those with previous vineyard experience.
• Detail oriented, organized, and capable of handling stress under pressure.
• English fluency, with preference given to Spanish speakers.
• Canadian citizen or residency status.
