Harvest Apple Press Operator (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Wards Cider/Canada West Tree Fruits is seeking highly motivated, seasonal apple press operators to work during our busy apple harvest season for a 6 to 8 week contract. The contract will be Sept  - Nov 2019, depending on the season. 

This is a very hands-on, entry level position which requires attention to detail and those who aren't afraid of "hands on" dirty work. Applicants must be willing to work a minimum of 40 hours a week over 6 days Monday- Saturday.

For Example:

 

1)    Monday – Friday 6:00am – 2:00 pm, Saturday 9am-5pm

Or

2)    Monday-Friday 2:00pm - 10:00 pm, Saturday 9am-5pm. 

 

Must be willing to drive a forklift - will train if necessary. 

Duties will include (but not be limited to):
• Receiving and unloading bins of apples from trucks 
• Operating apple press equipment
• Cleaning and sanitizing presses, tanks, hoses and pumps
• Additions, and transfers of product between tanks. 
• Maintaining facility cleanliness in all production, packaging and warehouse areas
• Shiftwork on evenings and weekends during peak harvest periods (Sept-Nov) 

Qualifications:
• Applicants need to have an excellent work ethic and ability to see a job through
• Ability to work as part of a team and individually without supervision
• Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
• Ability to work at heights, and in cramped, confined spaces at times
• Forklift experience and certification are a definite asset
• Ability to complete highly repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
• Physically fit, ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Wage DOE - $15-16 /Hour
Above all else, applicants should have a positive attitude, stay calm under pressure, be reliable and punctual.
