The Opportunity: Portfolio Manager
We are seeking a Portfolio Manager to find and select the best and most saleable products and help coach and develop the store teams in terms of product knowledge and customer service. This is a hands-on position supporting the entire company which will involve a balance of retail floor activities, office work and close communication and engagement with customers and staff.
Working closely with the Store Managers and reporting to the Operations Manager, your passion for discovering exciting new products will be satisfied by meeting with liquor agents and helping to select and order great products. Your creative side will be challenged by building enticing displays, setting up and running in-store tastings and keeping our stores looking beautiful. You will grow by continually learning about new and existing products, as well as when providing training to staff in product knowledge and food and drink pairing.
Your customer service side will enjoy delighting customers by listening to their needs, greeting them by name, providing excellent customer service while running the till and ensuring shelves are fully stocked. Your marketing side will appreciate promoting our products by email and social media as well as assisting in the curation of company-wide product programming and flyer picks.
Metro’s future Portfolio Manager must have at least 3 years in retail management (ideally in liquor and wine), possess above-average interpersonal and communication skills, and be a positive, respectful, energetic, “get-it-done-now” type of person. Those who have WSET Level 3 or beyond will have a leg up on the competition.
This is a full-time position requiring a committed team member who can work varied shifts five days per week (to connect with the community and team members) including some evenings and weekends.
