            Primary Job Responsibilities with Specific Job Duties:

·         Responsible for all day-to-day vineyard tractor and irrigation duties

·         Assist in scheduling staff work plans and submit payroll information on time

·         Ability to plan several steps ahead, prioritize daily tasks and supervise multiple projects at one time

·         Complies with OH & S guidelines and regulations

·         Report any potential problems with employees, equipment or other resources to appropriate person (i.e., Vineyard Manager)

·         Monitor Vineyard health for disease, deficiencies and stress, reporting potential problems to Vineyard Manager

·         Assess and estimate resources needed to complete various tasks, conduct up-to-date inventory checks to assure stocks are adequate

·         Continuously look for ways to improve by suggesting cost savings, time savings, quality enhancements or safety improvements

·         Work with Vineyard Manager to control expenses and costs

·         Working closely with the Viticulturist and Vineyard Manager to ensure a smooth efficient operation

·         Manage fertilizer, chemical and equipment orders and supplies – order and maintain supply parts

·         Oversee implementation of planned; irrigation, fertilizer and chemical applications to ensure vineyard is managed appropriately for specific block requirements

·         Maintain security of vineyard operations including equipment, fertilizer and chemical supply inventories

·         Supervision of Temporary Foreign Workers

·         Provide a presence in the vineyard to ensure activities are done to the Frind standards, including.

o   Operation of vineyard equipment and vehicles

o   Irrigation, fertilizing and chemical applications

 

 

Skills / Competencies / Knowledge / Education required:

·         At least 2 years of experience (in a supervisory role) in a vineyard greater than 10 acres producing premium quality fruit

·         A degree or diploma in viticulture or horticulture would be advantageous but not essential

·         Knowledge of experience with identifying vineyard pest and disease

·         Previous experience operating applicable vineyard tools and related equipment

·         Ability to learn new concepts, with good record keeping, estimating and organizational skills

·         Able to work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures

·         Available to work varying hours, depending on seasonal vineyard requirements

·         Current First-Aid certificate (an asset)

·         Team player

·         Physically fit

·         Valid driver’s license

·         Excellent communication skills
