This is a full-time seasonal position that will be available from Sep 2 to Nov 15. The main role is assisting the winemaker with processing grapes and fermenting wine. Applicants must be able to work 6 days a week during peak season and must be willing to work up to maximum 10 hours per day.
Key responsibilities are:
Receiving and unloading grape shipments
Assisting with crushing and pressing, including cleaning and sanitizing crush pad equipment and washing bins
Assisting with lees filtration, including cleaning and sanitizing the lees filter
Pump-overs of fermenting red wines
Emptying of red wine fermenters and removing grape waste
Lab work if skilled
Vineyard work if work is slow in cellar
Bottling and barrel work prior to or after harvest
General cleaning and sanitizing of equipment
Qualifications:
Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
Winemaking education and/or experieince with cellar work is an asset but can also be trained on the job
Forklift or skid-steer loader experience is an asset
Must be physically capable of folding and stacking wooden half-bins, lifting cases of wine, shoveling skins from tanks, etc

$18.00/h with overtime paid at time and a half.
