Compensation Specialist (Contract) (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Job Description:

This role is responsible for supporting company-wide compensation processes and policies.  It will maintain and execute established compensation programs, which include job description and evaluation, merit cycle administration, short and long-term bonus plans and the company-wide coordination of documentation of all programs.  Working within the Total Rewards centre of excellence, this role will participate in the accomplishment of business objectives and align with broader business strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary support for compensation function within Total Rewards department.  Support compensation team to complete day to day tasks.  Prepare meeting minutes after departmental meetings and send to the team.  Follow up on action items and report status to team. Collaborate with the People & Culture department to complete tasks to support the business.
  • Coordinate job description database and maintain integrity of job descriptions.  Make updates to descriptions and format as required.  Track missing job descriptions with the business and organize process to recover outstanding documents.  Review job descriptions for consistency and identify inconsistencies for compensation team.
  • Help support the annual bonus and merit compensation cycles with the compensation team.  Review and format bonus plans based on established eligibility rules.  Investigate policy and data discrepancies and present to compensation team for update.  Correspond with People Strategy & Business Partner Managers and provide compensation-process guidance.
  • Analyze compensation data using Excel to provide research support and uniformity to compensation data.  Audit compensation and HR policy data in HR system (Workday) for consistency and identifying mis-alignments to the HRIS team for updating.  System review to align with annual company-wide compensation processes.
  • Coordinate long-term incentive plan documentation for new entries, promotions and exits from the plan.  Upon approval, prepare documentation to be sent to employees for review with compensation team.  Manage process and deadline related inquiries.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Human Resources, or related field.  Specialization in Compensation an asset
  • 6 months to 1-year related experience, co-op placements accepted.  Compensation and Total Rewards experience a definite asset
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Ability to use HCM Software, previous Workday experience would be preferred
  • working towards Certified Human Resources Professional and/or Certified Compensation Professional
