Thornbury Village Brew & Cider House is where our award-winning Beers & Ciders are crafted. We have been brewing beer for over 15 years with great tasting lagers like the award winning Thornbury Pick-up No. 26 Pilsner, Ladder Run Amber and Dam Dark Lager. We also have the top selling Ontario Craft Cider.

Colio also represents a range of international brands such as Bacalhoa Group of Wineries from Portugal, Warsteiner Brewery from Germany, Cumulus Estate Wines from Australia, Frisky Zebra from South Africa and a number of other international wine & spirit suppliers.

Reporting to the President and based out of our Home Office in Mississauga, Ontario, the VP of Sales will be responsible for increasing the sales volume, market share and distribution of company products through all sales channels. This individual will be a dynamic results oriented team player with the ability to implement and achieve sales targets. You will provide vision for all sales strategies and their execution plans. You will provide Leadership, Motivation and Supervision of the sales department. The VP of Sales will also be responsible for containing the costs of selling in order to achieve predetermined profit yields. As part of the senior management team the VP of Sales will participate in the development of Colio’s priorities and objectives. Externally you will establish long-term strategic business relationships with the LCBO, Grocery, Key On-Premise accounts, and our Retail Store hosts.

Key Job Duties:

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Consistently achieve sales goals while operating within budget to contribute to overall profitability.
  • Ensure direct reports maintain fiscal discipline and operate within budgetary guidelines.
  • Establish high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in planning, forecasting, and budgeting approaches used by the sales department.
  • Define performance measurements aligned with the Colio’s financial obligations and strategic plan.
  • Assure reporting, learning, and incentives are aligned to meet these objectives

 Business Intelligence

  • Create and execute sales strategy integrating with the marketing, finance, and operations teams.
  • Demonstrate strategic business acumen with a keen focus on achieving and monitoring all field KPI’s and other key business drivers that directly impact revenue and the customer experience.
  • Continuously and proactively analyze performance; develop and recommend action plans in support of revenue optimization
  • Ensure sales policies and procedures are developed, effectively implemented, and maintained to achieve organizational consistency and efficiency across and throughout the retail and distribution channels
  • Partner with production, finance and marketing groups to ensure operational readiness for all product launches within the marketing, operations and finance guidelines.

Leadership Management and Development

  • Oversee sales management team to ensure efficient and profitable sales in the operations outlets, executed with exceptional hospitality. This role has five direct reports with a department of over fifty.
  • Retain, develop, and recruit senior leaders reflecting the company’s vision and values, with strong business understanding and commitment to achieving desired results
  • Lead by example - inspire, motivate, mentor, and educate the sales, operations, and marketing teams while collectively building a hospitality and retail service culture
  • Partner with Human Resources to address employee relations issues; identify appropriate training and/or coaching opportunities and follow-up to ensure effective and consistent resolutions are reached, complying with employment policies and procedures
  • Deliver clear performance expectations and performance evaluations with fair and timely feedback for growth and development
  • Support Senior Sales Managers to identify and successfully implement opportunities for sales and process improvement
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and strive for operational excellence

Requirements

  • University or college degree in Business Administration, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. MBA is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of work experience in the spirits/wine/beer sector
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a senior management capacity in a sales environment.
  • Strong experience in all aspects of sales, including growth strategies, distribution channel management, account development, and business planning.
  • Strong Leadership qualities. Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, good listening and people management skills.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and customers.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills. 
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Wine, Cider or Beer educational training preferred. SMART serve certified

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel to, attend, and conduct presentations.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs.
  • Overtime as required.
