The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Cellar Master to join our tight-knit production team. The Cellar Master plays a key role in the daily operations of the production facility, working under the direction of the Winemaker to coordinate all winemaking processes from harvest to bottling.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise cellar operations including fermentation, barrel work, racking, sanitation, and filtering.
  • Support harvest activities including grape intake, processing, and fermentation management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards through team training, equipment monitoring, and sanitation of the cellar.
  • Supervise cellar staff.
  • Maintain proper record-keeping.
  • Facilitate and record lab analysis (pH, TA, S02, VA, Malic Acid, Residual Sugar, etc.)
  • Conduct and/or coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs on winery equipment (press, pumps, etc.)
  • Supporting marketing with lab analysis, tasting notes, and other specs for producing labels, data sheets, entering comps, etc.

Top Candidate Qualifications

  • 3+ years of cellar experience
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hands-on and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Highly organized and skilled in prioritization.
  • Valid driver’s license. Endorsement 20 an asset.
  • Forklift license an asset.
  • Advanced Wine Knowledge

Working Conditions & Physical Environment

  • Ability to lift 24 kg, stand for long periods of time, and work long hours when needed.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

Compensation and Other Details

  • Hours: Full-time, permanent position
  • Location: In-person at Monte Creek Winery
  • Pay: $25 - $30 CAD per hour (wage dependent on candidate experience)
  • Benefits: Extended health and dental benefits, RRSP matching program, tasting room discount and seasonal terrace restaurant food discount
