Contract Media and Trade Liaison
for the Naramata Bench Wineries Association (Part-Time)
The Naramata Bench Wineries Association (NBWA) is a membership organization, seeking a part-time contractor to act as the media and trade liaison for the association. Historically, the NBWA has led the BC wine industry in establishing a regional identity; now the association is mobilizing to promote the reinvigorated brand of the Naramata Bench region, through a progressive five year marketing plan.
Experience & Skills:
The contract will be awarded to a candidate with excellent marketing, communication and coordination skills, experience curating and writing media content, general wine knowledge, a warm and welcoming personality, a service focus, and the drive to promote the NBWA's brand. Ideally, the contractor will have connections to Canadian/international wine media. The contractor does not need to be located on the Naramata Bench, but should be able to travel monthly for meetings with the administrative contractor, project partners and media.
Deliverables:
1. Liaison with media: act as the first point of contact for media inquiries and visits, provide on-brand resources to media, assist in media itinerary planning as needed, and facilitate connections and visits to membership producers.
2. Facilitate digital media: organize quarterly professional photography shoots to provide on brand visual media. Use the photos to update the association website content and regional photo bank each quarter. Program one social post per week of original on-brand content to the association's regional profiles, telling the regional brand story. Monitor, reply to or redirect social media inquiries and repost mentions.
3. Support BC/Canada branding and trade relations: supply Wine Growers BC, Discover Naramata, Travel Penticton and the Canadian Trade Commission with regional branding, story, maps and information (as available) to tell the Naramata Bench brand story on a quarterly basis through email, and on demand. Recommend member wineries for trade related samples, events and visits.
4. Coordinate media samples: Coordinate an annual blind competition for member wineries (judged by a third party with strong qualifications and reputation such as an MW,) to curate a media sample pack of the vintage's best dozen Naramata Bench wines. Send the winning 12 bottles in a curated pack, with regional branding and wine-specific stories/video to top 10 national and top 10 global media.
5. Internal communication: create monthly on-brand content for the internal membership newsletter to teach and support members to tell the Naramata Bench regional brand story. Include any trade and media opportunities for members, including from partners, as content for the monthly newsletter.
Term & Reporting:
This contract is for a one year term August 15 to July 31, 2022. This contract will be renewable based on the same deliverables for two additional years, August 1 to July 31, at which point it will be put out for public tender, at the latest on July 31, 2025.
Compensation:
Competitive monthly compensation. All office and contractor travel expenses associated with the completion of the contract deliverables are the responsibility of the contractor. The association is responsible for approved project costs such as photography, the website, a competition judge and shipping of samples or media. The contractor and NBWA may agree to additional work beyond the deliverables in this contract, at an additional hourly rate.
