About Us:
Our winery is a large producer in the Okanagan Valley synonymous with premium wines. We are fortunate to have several exceptional vineyards throughout the Okanagan Valley. These vineyards are managed collaboratively with our head winemaker to ensure top quality yields allowing us to produce our award-winning wines year after year.
The Role:
In anticipation of future growth, we are looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated Vineyard Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing multiple vineyards and planning of future vineyard holdings in the Okanagan Region, British Columbia.
Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
· In consultation with the Winemaker, you will plan and manage all aspects of the farming
· Lead a team to ensure wine grape quality remains high (hire, train & lead)
· Overseeing all vineyard establishment and replanting.
· Responsible for all irrigation, spray, nutrient, canopy management and pruning plans
· Record keeping for all vineyard consumable inputs.
· Responsible for spray records.
· In consultation with the Winemaker develop the annual vineyard operating budget.
· Be responsible for day to day routine maintenance of all vineyard equipment
Experience & Education:
- Ability to hire, train and lead multiple crews through the growing season and coordinating with our Winemaking team during harvest.
- A minimum of 7 vintages experience preferably in similar growing conditions
- Understanding and experience in organic farming as well as conventional farming
- Ability to commence work in short order before May 2019
- Understanding farming practices necessary for growing premium grapes
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English is a must
- A degree in Viticulture or similar is preferred, but not required.
