Cellar Master (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Joining our full time winemaking team, the ideal candidate will work closely with our Winemaker and Vineyard Manager, Jean-Marc Enixon, in every aspect of the winemaking process at our ultra-premium estate. The successful candidate will be a key member of the winemaking team and will share a passion for making ultra-premium wines including our limited production Number Series. The ideal candidate should be be energetic, ambitious, detail-oriented, resourceful, and hard-working. 

Responsibilities include the following, both in and out of vintage:  

  • Maintaining winery hygiene, including the sanitization of tanks and equipment
  • Transferring and racking tanks
  • Preparing and Adding Ingredient additions
  • Operating winery equipment (pumps, de-stemmer, press, etc) 
  • Carrying out daily pump overs (during vintage)
  • Conducting basic lab analysis testing (Acidity, Ph, VA, So2, etc.)
  • Monitoring fermentations (during vintage) as well as collecting and logging daily fermentation data (density, temperature, etc)
  • Operating a forklift (stacking barrels, moving must from container to tank)
  • Carrying out barrel operations (filling, topping, racking)
  • Participate in regular sensory tastings
  • Support the logistical management of both barrels and case goods using our Winery Management software
  • Entering winemaking data into Process2Wine

Requirements are as follows: 

  • Passionate about winemaking
  • Positive attitude
  • Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency at the time of application
  • Completed post-secondary education (college or university degree), with science-based training in winemaking or similar considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Significant hands-on vintage and cellar experience (3-4 vintages), with international experience considered an asset
  • Excellent computer skills and technological savvy, with knowledge of Process 2 wine considered an asset
  • Ability to work within a compact team
  • Ability to work long hours (during vintage and whenever else required)
  • Quick-minded, resourceful, and capable of working independently and efficiently on tasks
  • An excellent work ethic, reliability and integrity 
  • A proven track record of achieving and maintaining high standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to safely lift up to 25 kg
  • Strong forklift skills are a must, but Culmina will provide fork lift training to get certified, if necessary
  • A current driver’s license
