Tasting Room Associate (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Uppercase Winery is an exciting new winery in Oliver, B.C., with a focus on expressing the unique terroir of the South Okanagan through the highest quality wines we can produce. We source our grapes from our own vineyards across three sites in Oliver and Osoyoos and use a variety of winemaking techniques and vessels to achieve this focus.  Our tasting room will be opening at the District Wine Village in June of 2021, just 30 minutes south of Penticton.    

Uppercase is currently recruiting tasting room associates to help us launch our brand and share our first releases with the public this summer. Reporting to the Winery Manager, you will deliver excellent customer service, ensuring the experience of all visitors and guests stands out and exceeds expectations.  Hours will begin as part time, with the possibility to increase as the season progresses and demand increases.

 

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Greet and interact with all guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Guide guests through their tasting experience and provide education about our wines, vineyards and winemaking practices
  • Maintain a professional and positive working environment
  • Promote wine club membership, new wine releases and upcoming events
  • Stock shelves, merchandising,  maintain organization and cleanliness on the retail floor and behind the tasting bar
  • Handling transactions, inventory counts, cash outs and shipping
  • Assist and support other functions of the winery as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Passion for learning about wine, interacting with the public and educating patrons
  • BC Serving it Right Certification
  • Flexible Schedule, with the ability to work weekends and holidays
  • At least 19 years of age
  • Physically fit to meet requirements of the job ie. lifting cases (50 lbs), standing for long periods, stocking shelves etc.

Preffered Qualifications:

  • Formal wine training or education such as WSET
  • Background in service/hospitality
  • Experience in a wine shop or tasting room an asset

 

 

Hourly Rate TBD based on experience
