Vineyard operator (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Maverick Estate Winery is searching for a Vineyard Operator. This is a full-time position.

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Vineyard Manager and Winemaker on our 28 acre estate vineyard. This role is perfectly suited for a self-starting individual who will take pride in our team’s success. The Vineyard Operator will play a key role in reaching our goals of producing high quality grapes and making premium wines.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Performing vineyard tractor work as directed by vineyard manager

·         Maintenance of tractors, sprayers, mowers and other mechanical equipment

·         Irrigation maintenance and repair

·         Trellis maintenance and repairs

·         Assisting vineyard crew with seasonal tasks as required, including pruning, tucking, thinning, harvesting, wire lifting, etc.

·         Cellar work during peak harvest time

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Able to lift 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, work outside, work in cold and wet conditions, comfortable with heights

·         Motivate and punctual

·         Good communication and leadership skills

·         Hardworking & able to work longer hours when necessary

·         Experience with tractor and equipment operations

·         Must be mechanically inclined

·         Forklift experience is an asset

·         Education and previous experience in vineyard management is an asset
