Our Hillside family is growing, and we are searching for talented, energetic wine enthusiasts to join our Wine Shop Sales team!

Hillside Winery & Bistro is located on the Naramata Bench, just minutes from Penticton BC. Established in 1989, we are one the oldest wineries in the region. We have a rich history and long-standing reputation for providing exceptional, award winning wines.  We continue to offer our guests the ultimate Naramata Bench experience with terroir-driven wine, locally inspired cuisine, and striking views of the bench and Lake Okanagan. What’s not to love?

We have full-time and part-time seasonal positions available for a WINE SHOP SALES ASSOCIATE for April through October 2022.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Engage with guests on a one-on-one basis, educating and telling the story of Hillside in an effective and dynamic way. Through our reservation system, we offer 45-minute, private, seated tastings in our wine shop and garden.
  • Educate guests about our wines, sharing information about our history and philosophy, as well as our winemaking practices.
  • Assisting customers with wine purchases while building relationships and providing a high standard of customer service.
  • Present the wine club benefits, contributing to its growth and reaching individual and team targets, while also assisting current wine club members.
  • Opening and closing duties, stocking, and merchandising shelves.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of hospitality areas including the wine shop, courtyard, and designated tasting areas.
  • Assisting with packaging and shipping wine orders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Serving experience considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in hospitality, retail, or sales.
  • WSET Certification or other wine education is an asset.
  • Experience with WineDirect POS an asset.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service and sales skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of wine or a keen interest in wine.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Comfort with computers (for our basic point of sale software.)
  • Serving it Right Certificate.
  • At least 19 years of age.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of the job.  These include but are not limited to lifting up to 40 lbs while navigating stairs or equipment and standing for extended periods of time.

Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays. Hours will vary and fluctuate due to business volume.

Our tastings are set up to ensure that 6 feet of distance can be always maintained between you, the customer, and your co-workers. Through our reservation system, we can control the flow of traffic in and out of the building.
