Laughing Stock Vineyards is a boutique winery on the Naramata Bench near Penticton. We work hard at trying not to live up to our name, and thus aim to make serious wines with a light-hearted attitude.  In the past 15 years, our winery has become one of the most respected and sought-after wine producers in BC.

We are now accepting applications for a full-time Tasting Room Supervisor. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a passion for wine, who is outgoing, enjoys meeting new people, is an effective and dynamic communicator, and can deliver excellent customer service and leadership. The ideal candidate has experience with wine sales and some formal wine education (ie WSET). Our ‘by appointment’ model allows you to connect with the guest, have engaging conversations about our award-winning wines and help them in selecting their purchases and joining our Preferred Share Wine Club.

Tasting Room & Winery Experiences

• Make suggestions in the development and execution of hospitality programming including tastings, tours and exciting new guest experiences
• Execute tasting bar promotions and strategies to drive sales and achieve targets
• Identify and recommend margin enhancing retail sales opportunities
• Execute strategies that will continue to target our key demographics and develop year-round business, including leveraging partnerships with accommodators, tour operators and other local business

Staff Supervision and Leadership

• Support in the development and communication of weekly labour schedule
• Develop a fun, motivated and positive work environment
• Maintain and enhance a strong “wine culture” and quality image; guide team in brand
• Execute training plans alongside Hospitality Manager for all seasonal Tasting Room staff for sales, experiences and tours
• Work alongside tasting room staff and provide leadership to the team
• Assist Hospitality Manager in ongoing development of staff; maintaining a focus on executing exceptional guest experiences and achieving financial targets

Tasting Room Administration

• Assist Hospitality Manager in sales/inventory accounting on daily, weekly, monthly basis
• Assist Hospitality Manager with management of expenses to budget
• Support Social Media campaigns and experiences

Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Education in Hospitality Management or Business (Or Equivalent)
• 1-3 Years previous guest service experience (Winery Experience Preferred)
• Exemplary customer service skills
• Solid wine knowledge both local and international (WSET Level II an Asset)
• Holds a Serving It Right certificate
• Understanding of social media platforms, trends and opportunities an asset
• Ability to learn, use and teach Point of Sale programs effectively
• Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal & communications skills
• Good understanding and ability to use Microsoft Office and other Computer Software Programs
• Must be able to lift 40 lb cases of wine - Able to stand for long periods of time & navigate stairs
• Professional attitude and a strong work ethic; ability to multi task 
• Be available and willing to work the required weekends and holidays
