Harvest Winemaker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Key Responsibilities:

• accept and process fruit for the 2019 vintage.
• Operation and cleaning of harvest equipment (press, sorthing table, crusher/destemmer, etc.)
• Carry out all winemaking tasks issued by the winemaker in accordance with set protocols.
• Ensure all winemaking activities are carried out with high quality and attention to detail, and in a timely manner. 
• Actively maintain all winery facilities, machinery and equipment.
• Communicate frequently and effectively with the General Manager and Winemaker.
• Participate in other activities as directed by the Winemaker or General Manager, such as sales and promotional activities, retail and events work.

Winery Duties: 

• Carry out all Cellar tasks including barrel work, racking, topping, transfers, filtration, etc. 
• Perform all laboratory analysis as needed (pH, TA, MLF, SO2, etc) 
• Keep a clean, tidy and safe work environment at all times, and report any hazards or safety concerns to the Winemaker
• Ensure all winery waste is dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner
• Participate in Tasting, blending and fining trials, assisting the winemaker 
• Forklift operation 
• General cellar maintenance 
• Ensure equipment is in working order, establish maintenance log/procedure for all winery equipment 
• Evaluate/monitor wines on a regular basis and report any issues/developments to winemaker
• Preparation for harvest by ensuring that all equipment is prepared and ready for grape intake All aspects of grape reception and processing 
• Training and supervising of harvest staff with emphasis on safety, efficiency and quality of work
