Summary of Responsibilities:
The Account Manager is responsible for developing strong business relationships with RJS Craft Winemaking customers (the “independent retailers”). As their front line business advisor the Account Manager will be responsible for coaching independent retailers with respect to retail operations and store development.  Account Manager will drive sales within his/her market to meet projected targets and be held accountable as such to achieve those sales goals while exploring and implementing new business strategies.

Key Accountabilities: 
  • Manage customer base within the territory through effective rapport building with established independent retailers in the territory and pursue relationships with potential new store owners.
  • Achieve goals by establishing priorities and work plans to meet his/her own objectives while utilizing Salesforce.com to maintain an appropriate call pattern and schedule for a predefined group of accounts determined by the ranking of importance (i.e. Academy Stores), volume and opportunity including real time tracking of monthly targets.
  • Ensure the annual sales forecasts, volume, revenue, and margin contribution of accounts meet planned levels in order to meet and exceed the territory and national targets.
  • Utilize experience to make smart business decisions, control spend, freight, co-op and manage individual customer rebate programs and incentives to drive successful results.
  • Develop and deliver persuasive business/sales presentations and programs to increase sales with existing independent retailers and to secure distribution at new and developmental accounts.
  • Develop business plans using the RJSA Business Plan Template with all Academy Stores consistently in collaboration with the Academy Store owner and in consultation with the RJS management team with the goal to influence the business together and increase sales.
  • Coordinate business reviews including Operations Reports and Loyalty updates with the retailers and provide completed performance measurements to the Regional and Field Operations Manager.
  • Coordinates prompt, efficient handling of customer inquiries and issues, troubleshoots and is solution based that leads to customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains strong understanding and awareness of industry developments, ensure best practices and consistency to the execution of RJSA specific programs in field.
  • Identify, create and manage value added initiatives and programs with accounts, including but not limited to store set up, merchandising, education programs, store development, promotions, co-op and event planning.
  • Work in tandem with inside sales team partner to prioritize sales opportunities while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Develop a sound understanding of regional market conditions and provide leadership team with thoughtful and constructive feedback.
Desired Skills, Background Experience and Qualifications:
  • A university degree or college diploma or equivalent track record of success in a similar territory manager role with minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • WSET or ISG Certification an asset.
  • Territory Management experience working with Independent Retailers/ Franchisees.
  • Strong analytical skills and polished presentation abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proven problem solving and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with customers and peers.
  • Results oriented, self-motivated, driven and disciplined.
  • Computer and IPad literacy, including the ability to create and modify PowerPoint presentations, Word and Excel documents as well as effectively utilize web-based tools and resources. Salesforce working knowledge an asset.
  • Must be able to lift wine cases weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Overnight travel and frequent event work during evenings and some weekends will be required.
  • Other duties as required.
