POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Sr Director of Marketing, the Marketing Director of Innovation leads New Product Development for the Quebec market. This includes developing the NPD strategy for the company, launching new brands and potential new categories, managing the NPD process and system and working closely with the NPD team in Mississauga.
RESPONSIBILITIES
NPD Strategy
- Developing and leading the NPD strategy as it relates to New Brands or formats to deliver on the 5 Year strategic plan for innovation
Strategic New Brand development
- Ideation and creation
- Working with outside suppliers to do exploratory research, look for consumer insights and review market data to identify new brand/format opportunities
- Working with outside suppliers to do creative development of new brand ideas
- Concept testing and consumer validation
- Execution and commercialization
- Creating the business case and managing the project through our Stage-Gate process
- Managing the project, by working cross functionally to commercialize and successfully bring concept to market
- Working with our Sales MGMT team to gain listings at SAQ and Grocery channel
- Launch and Incubation
- Developing and executing the launch plan, including all communication elements
- Managing and extending the brand as needed for the first 12-24 months
- Consumer insights and trend spotting
- Regional lead for our corporate consumer insight studies
- Ongoing monitoring of consumer and wine trends
- NPD Execution Process Management
- Regional owner of the NPD process and stage gate system for all new products
- Participating in the innovation S&OP process and NPD meetings
- Tactical projects
- Launch tactical new brands (i.e. to address channel specific opportunities)
QUALIFICATIONS
- University education with a preference for a business degree. MBA an asset.
- Minimum 10 years industry and/or comparable experience with a recognized Tier 1 consumer packaged goods company in marketing management.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in new product development is required with track record of success. Strong project management skills must be evident.
- Experienced at leading teams
- Experience briefing and leading creative development and assessing creative.
- Excellent analytical skills and an ability to draw actionable conclusions from multiple data sources.
- Creative and innovative.
- Experience with an NPD Stage-Gate process
- Interest in wine is a must. Effective at presenting and selling ideas to key internal and external customers
- Strong computer skills in all Microsoft Office programs.
