Salt Spring Vineyards, now celebrating 20 years,is one of the oldest wineries in the BC Gulf Island region. We are searching for a motivated,self starter to take over form our winemaker of 20 years and to also take over vineyard management. Utilizing grapes from our own 2.2 hectare property and also purchased grapes we produce 1800-2000 cases of award winning sparkling,red,white and fruit wine. Come join us and live and work in the best climate in Canada on idyllic Salt Spring!
Vineyard management to include pruning,capture,shoot thinning,leaf thinning.hedging for canopy management,spray program,weed control,netting and harvest. Duties to also include hiring and supervision of part time workers as required, maintenence of vineyard infrastructure and equioment.
As winemaker duties are to process grapes from crush pad to bottle,keep proper records,maintain and repair winemaking equipment,lab analysis,supervision of harvest and sourcing of grapes for purchase.
The sucessful candidate will be experienced in winemaking and all aspects of viticultural management and capable of independent thinking and content to work with a "hands off" owner. An accompanying partner skilled in some of the management aspects would also be an asset.
Must be legal to work in Canada and be proficient in English.
