The Assistant Cidermaker reports to the owner and head cidermaker and is responsible for overseeing all daily aspects of the hard cider production process.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Working with the head cider maker on fermentation, conditioning and cider storage
• Daily performance of cidermaking tasks including cleaning and sanitation, racking, filtering, keg washing, kegging, bottling, labeling, packaging, receiving and occasional deliveries
• Monitoring fermentations and ageing ciders
• Working with sales team to prepare orders of bottles, cases and kegs for retail and wholesale clients
• Meticulous record keeping
• Safe operation of all equipment and tanks used in the cidermaking process

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 6 months prior experience working in a fermentation process with cider, wine or beer
• Excellent problem-solving skills doesn’t give up easily
• Must be highly motivated, independent and able to take direction and feedback from the owner and Head Cider Maker
• Proven ability to communicate effectively
• Extensive knowledge of ciders, craft beers, wines, etc
• Understanding of yeast fermentation and juice chemistry parameters such as Brix, pH, SG, SO2, TA etc. and corresponding testing procedures
• Technological proficiencies: comfortable working with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Availability to work full-time, 37.5+ hours a week and possibly on weekends
• Must be physically fit (this is a physically demanding job) with the ability to comfortably lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be over 19 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
