Pacific Wine & Spirits, one of western Canada’s fastest growing beverage alcohol agencies, seeks an energetic, proactive and hard working person to join a team of similarly passionate wine professionals as a part time sales representative servicing the territory of Northern Saskatchewan, based in Saskatoon.  

To succeed in this position, the successful applicant requires imagination, creativity, tenacity, attention to detail and a positive attitude, among other attributes. The successful candidate will have a personality built for sales: competitive yet professional in nature, is a self-starter and driven by achieving personal goals and those set by management. They must creatively find ways around problems by relying on a solutions‐oriented work ethic. Where “no” means “not yet,” or “try again.”

This person will have the opportunity to offer an outstanding portfolio of wine, spirits and beer from some of the world’s most esteemed family-owned estates.  Reporting to the Prairie Sales Manager, he or she will be responsible for servicing all liquor stores & restaurant locations while building and maintaining relationships with buyers, product consultants and their staff on a consistent basis.  This is a target-driven position that will be accountable to monthly, quarterly and annual targets and goals.  The successful candidate will operate from a home office but will spend most working days meeting managers and product consultants at their stores or restaurant.

Above all, the successful candidate will be responsible for meeting and exceeding assigned targets and goals set by management. This will be achieved by:

  • developing a keen understanding of the Pacific Wine & Spirits portfolio of family-owned wines, spirits and beer
  • developing in‐depth knowledge and understanding of SLGA policies, business practices and marketing opportunities
  • visiting North Saskatchewan retail liquor locations on a very frequent basis and fostering relationships with all retail store managers and product consultants
  • fostering relationships through sincere engagement with restaurants buyers, attaining listings by the glass and by the bottle in the on premise channel
  • obtaining and maintaining product distribution in Saskatchewan liquor stores by, for example, creating and distributing marketing materials, gaining floor stacks, improving product placement, anticipating issues or concerns, and educating employees on our products
  • participating in industry and consumer tastings at certain times of the year at various locations throughout Northern Saskatchewan
  •  creating, editing and distributing marketing materials that comply with both customer and Pacific Wine & Spirits marketing guidelines and strategies
  • some evening and weekend work will be required at certain times throughout the year

The successful candidate will show or have the following skills and experience:

 

  • has spent 2 or more years working as a Sales Representative, hospitality industry, wine retail or restaurant environment (preferably one with a strong interest in wines from around the world)
  • experience as a wine buyer, managing a wine list or restaurant management experience is considered an asset
  • has a familiarity with wine, wine styles, wine regions of the world, food and wine pairing, and a strong desire to learn more
  • is motivated to succeed in both an independent and team environment
  • has succeeded in building sales based client relationships with diverse personalities
  • has a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently
  • has a strong track record of meeting targets, setting goals and exceeding expectations
  • has a strong understanding of computers, including an aptitude for managing workflows within Word, Excel, Outlook (or similar), communicating on Skype, creating, printing and interpreting information from PDF documents, and sharing information using social media
  • has full‐time access to a vehicle and a valid and unimpeded SK Driver’s License
  • has a valid and unimpeded Canadian Passport and can travel on short notice within Western Canada and internationally
  • is physically fit and can lift and carry more than 40 lbs. on a regular basis
  • a wine education such as WSET to level 2 or greater is considered an asset
  • post-secondary education is considered an asset
