JOB SUMMARY
Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery was established with our first vintage in 1988. At that time we were one of a very few estate wineries dedicated to producing premium quality wines made from 100% Ontario grown grapes. Today, Henry of Pelham is a 200K+ case producer in Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula.
An integral part winery process, the incumbent will be involved in all facets of Cellar Operations. The ability to evaluate, problem solve, and a follow direction are central components to winery production. Ideal candidates will have familiarity with operations and use of equipment in production, preferably in a winery environment.
WORK RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Winemaking
Works with: Production Staff (Cellars and Bottling), Lab Staff, Bottling Line Supervisor, Cellar Supervisor
External Relationships: Suppliers (Dry Goods, Gasses, Trucking)
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills
· Detail Oriented, hardworking and enthusiastic
· Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
· Reliable with strong manual skills
· Ability to work independently and team oriented
· Good organizational, listening and problem solving skills
Education
· Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
· Post-secondary education in Oenology is an asset
Work Experience
· One year experience in cellar operations
· One year forklift operating experience, preferably in a winery/brewery environment
Special Training
· Forklift operators permit
· WHMIS training an asset
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but not limited to:
· Responsible for the complete sanitation of winery premise and equipment
· Preparation of wine in cellars, from grape to bottle including crushing, pressing, fermentation, racking, chilling and filtration
· Ensure accurate additions of dry goods to juice/wine are made under the direction of a winemaker
· Capable of lifting 25kg and able to work at heights
· Familiar with Health and Safety legislation policies, procedures and practices
· Ability to work in various weather conditions and within a flexible work schedule (harvest)
