Tasting Bar Associate, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Sumac Ridge was the very first operating estate winery in British Columbia and we’re proudly celebrating 37 years in 2018. Since the 1800s, the area’s combination of sparkling water, brilliant sun and fertile land has made it ideal for growing grapes. Sumac Ridge Estate Winery has been dedicated to producing wine from 100% BC grown grapes since its inception, and have set the standard for high quality in fine wines.

We are currently recruiting to fill a unique opportunity for an ambitious team player looking to enter the fascinating wine industry. We are looking for a bubbly and energetic, customer service driven individual to provide a welcoming, educational wine and food experience to our guests at Sumac Ridge Estate Winery.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Greeting and Engaging all Guests
  • Presenting Wine - Conducting tastings, suggesting food pairings, general wine education
  • Confirming sales with a thank-you and an invitation to return
  • Conducting tours and leading winery experiences where applicable and as qualified
  • Stocking wine and retail items
  • Answering phones and directing guests appropriately
  • Set-up and tear down for tasting events and special event programs (on and off-site)
  • Kitchen duties as needed (assist with dishwashing, glass polishing, minor food preparation as necessary)
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements

  • Proven Sales and Customer Service Experience
  • Passionate about Wine and Customer Experiences
  • Courteous and friendly with a positive team attitude
  • Detail orientated with a strong work ethic and ability to multitask
  • Willing to continually expand knowledge of wine making process and the wine industry as a whole
  • Serving it Right Certification
  • WSET Certification an Asset
  • Flexible working schedule - must have ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
  • Physically able to lift 40lbs; stand for long periods of time; climb stairs

Additional Skills considered an Asset:

  • First Aid Certification
  • Food Safe Certification
  • Second Language
