Summerland winery; Evolve Cellars is perched on a bench overlooking Okanagan lake, and boasts one of the Valley’s best views. A bright and airy tasting room with an onsite picnic bar and sun-drenched patios make this an essential stop in your Bottleneck Drive visit. The grounds offer a perfect setting for weddings and many special events, including yoga and corporate retreats.
ENCORE is seeking a winemaker who will work closely with our Director of Winemaking at our downtown Penticton winery.
This is a great opportunity to work for an exciting company, at a new project, working for a family with deep roots in the industry. This is a hands on position, working in the cellar, on the crush pad and in the lab.
RESPONSIBILTIES
-Execute all day to day winery functions
-Perform winery functions including blending, racking, filtration, cleaning, barrel work.
-Work on blending trials, new products and to ensure stylistic goals.
-Participate in all aspects of harvest
-Input all pertinent information into our wine software system, Vintrace.
-Create lot codes
-Perform all Lab work and input into Vintrace
-Ensure all wine goes through the VQA process in a timely fashion.
-Set up and participate in lab trials
-Write work orders
QUALIFICATIONS
-Must have substantial experience in a quality focused winery
-Be passionate about wine and winemaking
-Have some formal winemaking education
-Have a good understanding of Microsoft Office applications
-Be proficient with the forklift
-Be strong organizationally and planning skills are essential
-Must be able to work long days, including weekends and holiday during Harvest.
-Must be able to lift 25kg regularly.
This position reports directly to and will be working closely with the Director of Winemaking, Graham Pierce. We are a small team focused on quality wine in a fun environment.
Compensation will be based on experience.
