From humble beginnings we have grown to be one of the largest wine producers in Ontario, producing in excess of 600,000 cases of quality wine annually. We have our own 200 acre vineyard in South Western Ontario that continuously provides grapes of the highest quality. Some of our award-winning brands include Bricklayer’s, Girls’ Night Out, BackRoads Wine Co, and Colio Premium House brand.

Colio also produces award winning Craft Cider & Beer with our Thornbury Village Cidery & Brewery.  Our Pick-Up Pilsner and Ladder Run Amber Lager have both won Best in Country at the World Beer Awards. We also boast the top selling Ontario Craft Cider made from 100% fresh pressed Ontario apples.

We represent a range of international brands such as Warsteiner Brewery from Germany, Portobello Road Gin, Cumulus Estate Wines from Australia, Frisky Zebra from South Africa and a number of other international wine suppliers.

As part of our expansion and succession planning strategy, Colio Estate Wines Inc. requires a full time Area Manager in the GTA Core.

Position Summary

The GTA Core Area Manager reports directly to the Ontario Sales Manager. Your goal will be to achieve maximum retail wine, beer & cider sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities & Core Competencies

  • Responsible for growing the LCBO and licensee wine, beer and cider business in Toronto GTA.

  • 80% of your time will be focused on the LCBO.

  • 20% of your time will be focused on the licensee business.

  • Execute LCBO programming and strategy.

  • Execute Colio licensee programming and strategy.

  • Solid understanding of the craft beer industry and trends.

  • Solid understanding of the VQA wine industry and trends.

  • Proven track record in building and maintaining excellent relationships with customers as well as internal associates.  

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify customer issues, recommend solutions and effectively implement solutions.  

  • Demonstrated diligence and ability to follow through on commitments.

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve targets with a minimal amount of direction.

  • Computer literacy with the ability to skillfully use CRM tools as well as software applications, including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and e-mail programs such as outlook.

  • Solid planning and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in the use of syndicated data & foundational category management principles.

  • Overnight travel is required for this role.

  • Team player and effective internal communicator.

  • Evening and weekend work will be required for this role.

  • Execute numerous supplier trade visits.

  • Execute community events and sponsorships.

     

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ sales experience in the beverage alcohol industry is preferred.

  • WSET or equivalent wine education preferred.

  • University Degree or College Diploma
