Tasting Room Associate/ Administrative Assistant (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Rathjen Cellars is a farm-based winery located on the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island, just outside of Victoria. Drawing from inspiration from Old World traditions, we use minimal intervention in the cellar to create wines that truly reflect our cool coastal climate. Our small team environment offers a collaborative and dynamic work experience that is well suited to self-motivated individuals who are eager to contribute to many aspects of a small winery operation.

We are looking for a dedicated, energetic candidate to fulfill a versatile role for the upcoming 2022 season.  This role will be a full-time position that is split between sales-focused tasks in our tasting room and weekly administrative duties. This role will work closely in support of the General Manager and will provide excellent insight into the day-to-day management of a small business operation.

The right candidate will be:

  • A wine enthusiast (WSET or ISG certification an asset, but not required)
  • Customer-service driven and eager to deliver personalized hospitality
  • Professional, organized and punctual
  • A core contributor to the daily culture of the business
  • Able to manage a fast-paced environment
  • 19+ years of age
  • Serving It Right certified
  • Able to lift 40 lbs
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Class 5 or 7 Driver's licence*
  • Able to work weekends and some evenings throughout the season

Duties will include:

  • Lead a curated tasting room experience to deliver personalized customer service and share the philosophy of our winemaking and farming practices
  • Be a gracious host who is familiar with the Vancouver Island wine region, including local offerings and attractions
  • Execute weekly/monthly sales targets
  • Support direct to consumer (DTC) sales, including fulfillment, processing and shipment of orders
  • Assist with packaging, including management of product inventory
  • Maintain cleanliness of the tasting room, retail shop, patio and all public areas
  • Operate farmer's market stall (occasional)

* due to the location of the winery, applicants must have their own method of transportation
