Retail Wine Shop Supervisor (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Situated on the lower slopes of the Niagara Escarpment, Tawse is a family-owned winery voted Canada’s winery of the year in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016. The inspiration for Moray Tawse’s winery came from his love of Burgundian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Using organic and biodynamic farming practices, he has since expanded his range to terroir-driven Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Merlot crafted by Paul Pender and Rene Van Ede.

We are seeking a motivated, positive and knowledgeable wine enthusiast to join our hospitality team. This individual must have previous management experience and be determined in delivering exceptional customer service and guest experiences through sharing information about the expansive Tawse portfolio, viticulture and winemaking practices in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will exude positivity, be outgoing, thrive in a team environment and be punctual. This is a full-time salary position with flexibility in scheduling (weekday, weekend, holidays and the occasional evening) is required. Enrolment into our comprehensive benefits program will be offered once the probationary period is completed.

Duties:

·         Provide exceptional and memorable guest experiences for all customers

·         Provide leadership and supervising all retail staff sales associates

·         Establishing retail sales targets, as well as tracking individual and store sales

·         Recruitment, onboarding new employees, and scheduling

·         Promoting, organizing, and executing all on-site events

·         Co-ordinate and conduct structured tasting sessions and tours throughout the vineyards/facility

·         Manage onsite wine and merchandise inventory

Requirements:

·         Exemplary customer service skills with a proven track record in hospitality and sales

·         Previous management experience in a hospitality setting

·         Formal wine education is not a requirement, but preferred. Enthusiasm and desire to learn about all aspects of the craft is a must

·         Comfortable with public speaking and a strong multi-tasker

·         Able to lift 40 Ib cases of wine and stand for long periods of time and navigate stairs

·         Above the age of 18 with access to personal transportation

·         Must have Smart Serve Certification

Assets:

·         Bilingualism

·         Sommelier/WSET certificate

·         Proficiency with Square, Mercury, and Microsoft Word/Excel

Compensation:

·         Salary will be based on experience
