Winemaker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Sandbanks Estate Winery, one of Ontario’s wine industry leaders, is now hiring a Winemaker for their winery in Prince Edward County beginning in February.

Roles and Responsibilities

 -Executing all winemaking associated tasks such as fermentation, barrel work, racking, sanitation, transfers, bottling and tasting

-Recording daily reports

-Manage the inventory and supply of winemaking materials

-Management bulk wine inventory

-Record keeping for bottling, audits etc.

-Carry out, record and organize data for all laboratory analysis (pH, TA, SO2 and using a spectrophotometer for measuring VA, Malic Acid, Residual Sugar, etc.)

-Preventative maintenance on winery equipment (i.e. press, pumps, sorting tables etc.)

-Sampling and organizing tastings and recording data obtained

- Assist with vineyard and tasting room work when needed

- Shipping and receiving of wine and other winery supplies

- Follow safety protocols and procedures

Qualities and Qualifications

-Degree/Diploma in Oenology and Viticulture

-Minimum 3 years experience in cellar operations/management

-Must have a proven track record in high-quality table wines

-Ability to handle physical work

-Must have prior lab technician experience

- Forklift certification

-Highly organized and strong attention to detail

-Ability to be self-motivated but able to work well in a team, and motivate a team

 

Compensation will be dependent on experience
