The Hamilton Golf and Country Club is expanding our hospitality team and we are in search of an experienced, wine-knowledgeable individual to provide guests with an engaging wine experience. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, the Sommelier will possess a passion for hospitality and excellent customer service and communications skills. Duties & Responsibilities:

Will be responsible for selecting and consolidating the wine list by adhering to the budget and beverage cost, the requests of Members and Guests.

Responsible for weekly and monthly Beverage and wine inventories in liaison with the Food and Beverage Manager. Creating, modifying and printing the wine and beverage list as and when needed

Recommend wine purchases to the Food & Beverage Manager regarding new wine releases.

Lead in maintaining accuracy and efficiency of wine stock movement, requisition and transfers, as well as provide reporting and working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager and the Executive Chef

Continuously find ways to improve the efficiency of the operation and maximising and increasing sales and/or yield

Be responsible and accountable for the wine cost

Maintaining and updating the wine Locker programme

Serving food and beverages to members and guests along with wine pairing recommendations to guests

Set up and monitor wine training programmes for the department staff.

Demonstrate a high standard of personal appearance, always wearing a complete & clean uniform and ensuring good personal hygiene

Greeting and Seating members. Maintaining exceptional level of member service.

Conducting Briefing and incorporating wine changes and training part of the Briefing when possible.

Allocating sections and managing staff based on reservations.

Conducting Wine Dinner in liaison with the Chef and Food and Beverage Manager.

Staff Scheduling in the absence of the Food and Beverage Manger.
Qualifications:

Must have at least three (3) years of previous experience in a five star restaurant service type environment and wine education, experience in a private or member club an asset

Sommelier Accreditation required

Excellent organizational, management, leadership, communication and problem solving skills

Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and escalate issues accordingly

a high level of professionalism and customer-service attitude

Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic

Experience working with high end wine products as well as with purchasing and working with wine venders
