Phantom Creek Estates is a highly anticipated new winery located on the famed Black Sage Bench of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, we specialize in single vineyard Bordeaux reds and Alsatian whites.  By farming our vineyards with care and precision, Phantom Creek Estates produces wines that celebrate and speak to where they are grown.  The winery’s Estate vineyards are in transition to organic and biodynamic certification.


We are currently recruiting for a Chef to join our growing hospitality team. This position will be based in the winery on Black Sage Road in Oliver, British Columbia.


Reporting to the Estate Director, the essential functions for this key role are:


·         Effectively direct the planning, design, coordination and organizational phases of all food production for all F&B operations

·         Coordinate, plan and manage menu development and roll-out

·         Handle recipe development, food cost analysis, menu planning and pricing

·         Focus on profitability through food and labor cost initiatives

·         Provide data for related budget areas (food and labor costs)

·         Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary and in perfect operating order

·         Ensure that food product, presentation and plating are of the highest quality and are prepared to serve in a timely manner

·         Plans and organizes special events in collaboration with management

·         Provide chef to table service for VIP’s, high-end tours and other VIP functions

·         Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of products offered including wine & spirits, food recipes, prices, presentation, and internal control procedures


The successful candidate qualifications are:

·         Formal culinary training or associate degree in culinary arts

·         2+ years of culinary management experience

·         Creative

·         Solid wine knowledge to pair foods well with PCE wines

·         Demonstrated knowledge and experience providing outstanding hospitality

·         Strong menu engineering skills showcasing innovative and trendsetting items

·         Experience in vendor management

·         Strong business acumen including food and labour cost management
