Loop Line Wine & Food is bringing modern and classic wines to the Christie & Dupont neighbourhood. A wine bar and bottle shop in one, these wines can be enjoyed on site or at home.
Loop Line focuses on small producers, who strive to make wines in a sustainable way. That same ethos extends to other products that we carry, and how we run the wine bar and bottle shop.
JOB SUMMARY
This role is responsible for the overall operations of Loop Line Wine & Food. This includes both our bottle shop and the wine bar. They successful candidate is responsible for maintaining high standards in all services and operations and maximizing profitability. They are also responsible for planning and hosting tastings and special events to increase sales while seeking opportunities to create memories by anticipating needs, exceeding expectations and building relationships.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education and Experience:
- 4 years previous experience in restaurant operations, ideally in wine focused environment
- Previous retail experience an asset
- Strong understanding of customer service & training skills
- Strong understanding of Wine, as well as other alcoholic beverages
- Comfortable with computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and point of sale system (Touch Bistro) experience a plus
- WSET I, II, III an asset
- CAPS an asset
- Smart Serve
- CPR/1st Aid Certification (if not already acquired, we will send candidate for this training)
- Food Handlers Certification (if not already acquired, we will send candidate for this training)
Requirements:
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Works well in fast paced environment
- Maintains composure and objectivity under pressure
- Effective in handling problems in the workplace
- Effective at listening to, understanding, the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data
DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
Leadership
- Lead employees by example, conveying a positive attitude, enthusiasm and pride in your work
- Approach encounters with guests and employees in a gracious, attentive, courteous and service-oriented manner
- Take part in keeping Loop Line clean; cleanliness is everyone’s responsibility
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Coaching, counselling and conducting performance appraisals for employees
- Plan and implement regular on-going training sessions for staff
- Supervise service operations by being ‘on the floor’ in the wine bar and bottle shop during peak business periods (love working the floor and engaging with guests)
- Perform duties of all food and beverage service staff in high traffic periods and to ensure procedures and quality standards are met
- Build relationships with guests and staff
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for wines & food, along with spirts and beers
- Enforce all food and beverage service policies
- Conduct pre-shift meetings
- Plan and manage all private events
Portfolio Design & Execution
- Develop the beverage retail, BTG and bottle wine & beverage program and have input in the food program
- Build relationships with suppliers to ensure we’re in the loop on products & trends
- Responsible for all inventory reporting for both Bottle Shop & Wine Bar
Sales & Marketing
- Ordering, pricing, stocking and creatively displaying all products in retail areas
- Planning and hosting tastings and special functions
- Recommend special projects/promotions and execute them
- Collaborate with the marketing team to increase consumer awareness
- Work with marketing to ensure consistent content for social media platforms
- Updates to website, as needed
Operations
- Keep fiscal responsibility in mind when making all business decisions
- Comply at all times with standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations
- Create bi-weekly staff schedule
- Answer all guest complaints and suggestions
- Ensuring compliance with all provincial liquor laws, and city health department guidelines
- Monitor and control all beverage & food ordering and sales
- Monitor and control all inventories associated with online, bottle shop and wine bar
- Reconciliation of weekly sales and other reporting as needed
- Maintain sanitary conditions in all dining, kitchen and bar areas
- Order equipment, supplies, liquor, beer and wine; and maintain inventory control
- Ensure maintenance inspections
- Attend meetings as required by management
- Perform other duties as required
Salary: $59,000.00 per year
Supplemental Pay: Bonus pay
