We are seeking a permanent BAKER based in our West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, Frind Estate Winery located at 3725 Boucherie Road.

The Role

The Baker will be responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods, including bread, pastries, and desserts, while ensuring consistency, quality, and food safety standards. You will follow recipes, measure ingredients, operate baking equipment, and monitor baking times and temperatures to produce high-quality products. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of experience in a bakery setting, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake a variety of products, including bread, pastries, and desserts.
  • Measure, mix, and scale ingredients while following recipes accurately.
  • Operate a variety of baking equipment, including ovens, mixers, rolling pins, sheeters, and cutting tools.
  • Ensure all baked goods meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Monitor baking times and temperatures, making adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain an organized and clean workspace, ensuring equipment is cleaned and ready for use.
  • Develop and refine recipes as needed, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with customer preferences and business needs.
  • Track inventory and maintain supplies necessary for production.
  • Assist with merchandising and sales of baked goods as required.
  • Ensure desserts, sauces, etc. are prepared in advance for restaurant and café service.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Report any accidents or incidents according to company protocol.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Culinary or baking certificate or diploma is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of baking experience required.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and baking processes.
  • Experience with food preparation, presentation, and cost control.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing needs.

The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 to $23.00.

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
