S’milka Vista Vineyards is a 80 acre Similkameen winery located in South Cawston. We specialize in Viognier, Syrah and the red Bordeaux grape varieties. Our focus is on producing terroir driven wines, with an emphasis on detail in our sustainable farming so that the wines we produce can be produced with minimal human intervention.
Our sister winery, Terralux is located in West Kelowna off of Boucherie Road. There are 10 acres of vineyards planted to Chardonnay exclusively. We are looking for a driven cellar assistant to handle the day-to-day winery operations at S’milka Vista Vineyard with routine maintenance of our Terralux vineyard. This position will report to and work closely with the Winemaker and General Manager. The right candidate will be self-motivated and responsible with the ability to multi-task and work independently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments while maintaining quality, efficiency and safety.
Responsibilities
Cellar (40%)
-
Necessary wine movement, topping, additions, and filtration
-
Cleans, sanitizes, and sterilizes all winery equipment and facilities
-
Maintains a clean, tidy, and safe work environment
-
Assists in harvest operations and fermentation management
-
Receive and process fruit during harvest
-
Cap management, additions, inoculations, pressing and barrel downs
-
Assist with basic lab duties
-
Assist in bottling operations
-
Assist with shipping and receiving of goods
-
Performs basic equipment repair and maintenance
-
Follows example set by winemaker regarding winery performance standards
Vineyard (40%)
-
Conduct vineyard sampling as guided by General Manager
-
Support vineyard team during harvest and receive fruit at winery
-
Assist with vineyard duties such as pruning, weed management and vineyard maintenance
Administration & Wine Shop Support (20%)
-
Assist with administrative tasks such as mailboxes, on-line order processing and government reporting
-
Maintains an accurate inventory of wine and winemaking supplies
-
Support all aspects of our sales including tasting room support and shipping orders
Qualifications
-
Serving it Right
-
Forklift experience
-
3+ years of wine production experience
-
Enology, viticulture or wine studies degree/certificate preferred
-
Spanish knowledge is a plus
-
Ability to speak/write proficiently in English and follow written and verbal instructions

Be able to lift at least 22 kg safely and repeatedly

Valid BC driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
