Position Overview

Supporting the Hospitality Manager, this position will be responsible for direct supervision of the Tasting Room and wider hospitality requirement for the customer experience. Leading by example, the successful candidate will ensure the Tasting Room is operating in a professional, customer orientated, efficient manner with a focus on profitability. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the team (30%)
• Achieve Frind Estate Winery (FEW) standards and sales goals (50%)
• Office duties and other duties as requested by or in conjunction with Hospitality Manager (20%)

Core Duties

Lead the Team

• Supervise team - train, coach & motivate team members to achieve the vision and the day-to-day tasks.
• Oversee and offer ongoing training (product knowledge, customer service skills)
• Conduct daily shift briefings
• Drive sales techniques to deliver targets for onsite sales and Wine Club sign up
• Support in the creation & implementation of elevated Premier tier guest tasting experience
• Address safety and employee performance issues promptly and appropriately - ensure employees are aware of and observe company policies & procedures
• Work closely with the culinary and service team to ensure seamless service and guest experience
• Hire seasonal staff for the Tasting Room

Achieve FEW Service Standards

• Provide a presence on the floor to ensure customer service is at FEW standards of excellence
• Address customer complaint issues as appropriate, communicate these to Hospitality Manager
• Enforce and adhere to the company standards
• Communicate efficiently with other departments
• Ensure shift cash outs are balanced at the end of a shift
• Daily opening and closing procedures
• Participate in the weekly service management meeting

Office Duties

• Assist with the managing of all products inventories
• Assist with scheduling of staff to meet hours of operations & customer traffic expectations
• Assist with maintenance of point of sale system and other sales systems and software/hardware
• Assist the Hospitality Manager with meeting/exceeding financial targets

Qualifications and Skills

• Serving it Right certification
• 2-3 years of supervisory experience & leadership in retail, hospitality or food & beverage environment
• Advanced wine knowledge from work experience and/or related courses (WSET level 2 or ISG level 2)
• Knowledgeable with computer programs such as Word, Excel and Google Suite
• Organised, takes initiative and is able to make decisions
• Natural ability to be in a leadership position and gain respect of co-workers
• Industry related certificate courses a definite asset
