Lightning Rock Winery is an independently owned 3-parcel estate, passionate about holistic farmland stewardship and crafting natural, expressive, living wines. We strive for balance and sustainability in all we do. Our sparkling wine program makes up half of our 2500 annual case production, along with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier, Rosé and Syrah. We are the lucky stewards of three unique vineyards in Summerland, BC. Each site expresses very distinct terroir through the wines, despite being located mere kilometres apart.

Responsibilities include:
Assistant Winemaker/ Vineyard Manager will be involved in all aspects of tending to our 16 acres of vineyards, and will assist our winemaker in production, crafting high quality, natural, terroir-driven wines.

•  Hands-on farming: cane-pruning, tying, shoot/bud/canopy management, picking, planting, irrigation, soil care
•  Cellar operations: harvest, still and sparkling production, fermentation management, samples, bottling, sanitize facility
• Adhere to all health and safety programs for the vineyards and winery
• Maintain good working order and cleanliness of all equipment
• Assist with general property maintenance and presentation
• Assist in event set up/ tear down as needed

The ideal candidate will have:

• Understanding of biodynamic, organic and regenerative farming practices
• Vineyard experience is a must / Cellar experience preferred
• Tractor experience
• BC Forklift Operator’s Permit
• Access to reliable transportation to and from the winery
• Canadian work eligibility (No overseas applicants, please)
• Flexible work hours (days, weekends as required)
• First Aid Training
• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs - this position is physically demanding
