The role of Accountant is a two-year full-time contract. Benjamin Bridge is a growing farm winery located in rural Nova Scotia.  It seeks an engaged, motivated and hardworking individual who is willing to go the extra mile and values family-run businesses. This individual will take a deep dive in all aspects of the winery and be part of a great working culture.

 

Job Description

 

-        Assisting and overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations while reporting to Controller

-        Managing new accounting software (Vintrace, Xero, Hubdoc, Approval Max, Plooto) to

o    Complete daily revenue and payment reconciliations

o    Ensure inventory data is up to date and managing any gaps

o    Ensure timely processing of bank transactions and credit card transactions

o    Complete cost accounting to track the components involved in the winemaking process to develop accurate cost and pricing structures

-        Mentoring Accounting Lead in the execution of their task 

-        Collaborating with other departments and team members to ensure smooth workflow from production through to financial reporting

-        Supporting Controller with any financial reporting tasks required, including assisting in preparing budgets and evaluating financial performance of the company

-        Reviewing revenue reconciliations from various revenue sources (Shopify, Stripe, Touch Bistro, Clover, Wholesale, Licensees) 

-        Assisting with the preparation of government remittances and government funding

-        Problem solving when unexpected issues arise

-        Will be responsible for finding ways to implement new processes or to provide recommendations on how to improve current ones. 

-        Being knowledgeable in all aspects of the business and ensure reliable and timely financial information is being provided to Department Heads

-        At times, will be asked to take on tasks outside of the job description to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner

Requirements & Qualifications: 

-        Transportation to and from work in Berwick NS (with some flexibility to work from home)

-        Up-to-date on COVID vaccinations

-        Undergraduate Degree with a major in accounting or an accounting diploma

-        CPA is considered an asset

-        Familiar with various cloud accounting software (Xero, Hubdoc, Approval Max, Plooto)

-        Experience with inventory management is considered an asset

-        Ability to multi-task and to work efficiently with minimal supervision

-        Ability to appropriately manage tasks and people 

-        Ability to work in fast paced environment 

-        Excellent problem-solving skills

-        A kind team player
